VELLORE:- Vellore had the privilege of being the seat of the Pallava, Chola, Nayak, Maratha, Arcot Nawabs and Bijapur Sultan Kindoms.   Vellore is the Head-Quarters of Vellore District is well connected by Rail and bus routes to major towns of the neighbouring states like Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka and Kerala.  

One of the monuments of Vellore is the Fort. A very close examination of the stone inscriptions suggests that the Fort in all probability might have been built during the rule of Chinna Bommi Nayak (1526 to 1595 A.D.). The Fort is one of the most perfect speciments of Military architecture in South India. 

The Jalakandeswarar Temple inside the Fort is a very fine example of Vijayanagar architecture.

Nearest Railway Station: Katpadi Junction (7  Kms) / Chennai Airport MAA (130 Kms by Road).

Best Season: Throughout the Year.
SRI JALAKANDESWARAR  TEMPLE:- All the three Lords with their consorts – Lord Vishnu with Mother Mahalakshmi, Lord Brahmma with Mother Saraswathi and Lord Shiva with Mother Parvathi grace the devotees in the temple .
Distance from City : 1 Km.
Highlight:- A torch called Navasakthi Jyothi is in front of the Goddess – Amman shrine.  It never extinguishes and round in shape.  The main flame (jyothi) is at the centre and eight around it. A great lamp above the jyothi has a diameter of 27 inches representing the 27 stars starting from Ashwini to Revathi.  This is called Star Deepa – Nakshatra Deepa.

VELLORE FORT:-  Iti s a large 16th-century  Fort situated in heart of the Vellore City built by Vijayanagara Kings. The fort was at one time the headquarters of the Aravidu Dynasty of theVijayanagara Empire . The fort is known for its grand ramparts, wide moat and robust masonry .
Distance from City:- In the City.
Highlight:-  It is mentioned that "there is no such fort on the face of earth like the one in Vellore. It had a deep wet ditch (moat) where once 10,000 crocodiles swarmed, waiting to grab every intruder into this impregnable fort. It has huge double walls with bastions projecting irregularly, where two carts can be driven abreast". The fort was constructed in Granite from the nearby quarries in Arcot and Chittor districts. It spreads over an area of 133 acres (0.54 km2) and is located at an altitude of 220 m (720 ft) within a broken mountain range

GOLDEN  TEMPLE:-  The salient feature of 'Sripuram' is the Lakshmi Narayani temple whose 'Vimanam’ and ‘Ardha Mandapam’ is covered with pure gold, housing the deity Sri Lakshmi Narayani who is installed inside. The temple is located on 100 acres of land and has been constructed by the Vellore-based 'Sri Narayani Peedam', headed by spiritual leader 'Sri Sakthi Amma' also known as  'Narayani Amma'.

Highlight:- The temple with its Gold  covering, has intricate work done by artisans specializing in temple art using gold. Every single detail was manually created, including converting the gold chunks into gold foils and then mounting the foils on copper. Gold foil from 9 layers to 10 layers has been mounted on the etched copper plates. Every single detail in the temple art has significance from the vedas
